Elliott Wood at CHS Event – May 2013

The society’s 2013 lecture series came to an end last night with a very energetic and informational presentation by Robert Loomis. Mr. Loomis, the great great grandson of George Washington Loomis, shared stories about the notorious Loomis Gang from the Central New York region. His mixture of humor and content provided a great delivery that kept everyone entertained.

Sadly, Cleveland Historical Society member Elliott A. Wood passed away this August. Mr. Wood was a native of Constantia, an engineer, a World War II Navy Veteran and member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post #7325. His passion of nature and history were obvious with the presentation he made in May of this year on the trees and canyons of Sequoia National Park, of which he had made over 22 visits. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, as he will be missed.

Our thanks to all of this season’s presenters and we look forward to putting together another great lineup for 2014.
